My 6th garde kid that today in science class they were doing an expirment. Well they were using Phenyl Salicylate(Salol) to make crystals. He said they melted the Phenyl Salicylate and then cooled it and it made crystals. Well at the end he ate a little of the crystals. Will the Phenyl Salicylate hurt him?

No, he will be fine. In fact, phenyl salicylate is used medicinally as an intestinal antiseptic. He'll be fine, just stress the importance to not eat chemicals, better safe than sorry.

Six graders will be six graders. You can call the local poison control; don't be embarrased, they get all sort of calls about all sorts of stuff. I doubt if the 6th grade labs use chemicals that are potentially toxic in small quantities.
