Hi. Your question was interesting. I found a reference to the Tamil calender http://www.cs.utk.edu/~siddhart/tamilnadu/CAL/ which is Hindu based. There was no explanation of a "Star Birthday" other than the dates are different. It is also based on the Gregorian calendar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu_calendar . Not your answer, I'm afraid, but interesting anyway!
