World of Warcraft (aka WoW) is a computer game. More specifically it is a subscription based MMORPG or Massive Multilayer Online Role-Playing Game. You must be conected to the internet to play WoW, the game will stop functioing if your connection dies.

In it you can create and take control of a single character, and have them preform adventures and quests in an always-on world where many other people are simultaneously doing the same general things you are. You can see these players and they can see you. You can compete or co-operate with these players, or ignore them all together.

WoW has no overriding in-game plot and no story path to follow. There is no point at which you can say "I finished" and not have more to do. (Though there is a point at which your character cannot get any stronger.)

WoW is possible the most forgiving of all presently available MMORPGs, with no real penalty for dieing and plenty of ways for casual gamers to get just as strong as their obsessed counterparts. Its interface is relativity simple and in fact has several user mods specifically made to give the user MORE information that the default game settings!

WoW also has possibly the largest number os subscribers of any MMORPG, so some of the older servers have sever overcrowding and lag issues. A recent pay-to-move feature will let a player move his character from one server to another, possibly helping to spread out and reduce this issue.

Many people find this game highly addictive and fun, while some aviod it for the monthly subscription costs. There is a 10 day demo avaiable if you want to try the game without commitent yourself. Look in Best Buy, or any computer game store for a copy.

It is a large, persistent, massively multiplayer online role playing game. Take on a fantasy persona, meet some new friends, and kill some monsters to take their loot.

Good stuff.
