Who would you be? The stranger or yourself? How would you convince people you were you?

Actually, I think I would not be "me", nor the "stranger".
If a mind received input from a body different than the "original", the mind would change. Your eyes do not perceive the exact same shades as mine do, and the nerves at your fingertips do not feel texture in exactly the same way mine do. So if your mind was transfered to my body, the input would be different, thus the experiece would be different also and the mind would eventually change.
Good question!

That happens to me all the time. And worst of all, I usually have strange memories of doing things for reasons that seem all but incomprehensible to me.

All I can say is that I am me. Things influence me, but they come and go. Even my body. Sometimes I'm in a different place. Sometimes I'm with different people. The only reasonable conclusion is that none of these things define who I am.

As for convincing other people that I am who I am, I find that there is really very little point. People believe what they will. You cannot force someone else's mind into one path or another. The reasonable will draw correct conclusions, and the unreasonable usually won't, no matter WHAT you do.

So it goes.

You would be yourself in a stranger's body. I would convince people I was truly me by telling them facts about themselves that few know. Sort of like the movie Ghost where Whoopi convinces Demi that she's Patrick Swayze.

It seems that you're supposing "you" are something other than your brain. However, if your brain were transplanted into another body, you would still be yourself, with your own memories, thoughts, character, and personality. You would convince someone you were still you by demonstrating knowledge only you could have.
Haven't you ever watched any movies with this plot?

Convince other people I am me? Who am I? I would take the opportunity to find myself.
