No matter. Get the person some kind of help, regardless. If you sit on the side and do nothing, it will eat you up when he does take himself out, and had every oppurtunity to help... EVEN if you don't like him.
My friend was the same way when he came home from iraq. He hated the things that he had to do while he was over there. I found him one day with his pistol to his chin. threatened that if i tried to intervene that he would kill me. I told him, "go ahead, at least we'd go together and at least I would have died trying to save the life of a friend will to die for my freedom." Somewhere down the line I talked him out of it. He still thanks me for not letting him do it. He turned his life around and started taking pride in himself. He and I are even better friends than what we were.
Everyone needs a hand and to be lifted up at some point and somehow, no matter how many are in the same body. If you aren't willing to help that person live, you might as well be the person that puts the gun to his head and help him along. Sitting on the side and just watching is just as guilty.

it's an inner battle between those personalities where one doesn't want to die and the others wanted to. it can be a hostage situation within those warring personalities. call for professional help before he can do serious damage on other personalities. quick!
