Hi- I'm doig a performance at school and I need to be able to cry- but real tears and I know that there is something you can buy that makes you cry. I think you might put it under your eyes or something and it makes your eyes water. Its just that I really need to cry to make the performance effective and I can't seem to be able to cry. Thanks x

I read somewhere that you can use vix vaporub. (oops, I'm not sure about the spelling actually). You just rub a little bit under your eyes and it makes you tear up, although if you are a really good actor, you really shouldn't need anything to help you cry ;)

Since crying scenes onstage don't last at all long, don't use any applied material or compound on on near your eyes--aside from messing up your makeup, the effect can outlast your scene and become a liability---several items can actually harm your eyes or irritate them sufficiuently to interfere with your performance.
Tears (real or fake) barely read more than two or three rows from the stage in any case. Work with your director, or teacher, or other actors, to learn how to cry effectively on stage. It's a must to learn, because if you don't depend on technique, real sobbing and tears will get in the way of your lines and your performance.

If you really need to cry onstage and don't have the time to develop a deep psychological or physical trigger that will allow you to cry at will, just keep your mouth closed and curl your tongue back until you gag a little bit-DON"T THROW UP- and this will make you appear to cry and your eyes water.

try Vicks vapour rub that's a good one to make you cry.

or rub some onion on your finger and touch your eye (this will hurt)

or chili seed juice on your finger.

oh so many options.

I think the stars use the Vapour rub or tiger balm etc.

Don't bother. Audiences really couldn't care less if you cry. Further back than the first row and they can't see if you are or not!
Concentrate on the situation your character is in and see what happens.

A wee dab of Vicks under the eye should do the trick.
