Leaving at bedtime is an excellent plan, then you don't have to worry about feedings and fussiness as much. It also will help keep her routine regular for the rest of your trip. If you do need to feed her you can sit in the back with her in her carseat and give her a bottle or if you breast feed just pull over in a rest area for a few minutes. As far as changing goes, if you don't normally get up and change her at night you don't have to when traveling either. If you feel the need to once is probably just fine, make sure you give her bottom a good coating of cream.
We travel a lot, I have a 4 year old and a 7 month old..my baby has already been out of state 3 times and will be going to Canada this summer :)

OH and for anyone saying the baby will be wide awake and you'll want to sleep...yes this is true but an adult can handle it much better than a baby can, they need the consistency of a routine much more.

We're traveling this weekend with our 4 month old. Also an 8 hour trip. We can't leave until 5pm on Saturday, so we're going to drive 2 hours then stop for a late dinner, drive 2 more hours and stay in a hotel for the night and finish the trip in the morning. But if we were to do it all in one day I would leave in the morning at the time the baby goes down for the first nap. You should be able to get in a good 2 hours of driving that way, and when you stop the baby will be ready to eat. Then play for a bit, get diaper changed and back on the road. Try to break the trip up into 2-3 hour driving segments. You can sit in the back for a bit to play with her until she falls back to sleep (we thankfully have a nearly 4 year old to do that for us).

I wouldn't suggest doing the driving all night, because when you get to your destination you'll want to sleep but the baby will be wide awake.

Oh, and plan on the 8 hour trip taking more like 12 hours.

I had to take my 9 week old daughter (at that time) on a 11 hour car ride from South Georgia to Gettysburg, PA and she did GREAT!!! (My mom passed away suddenly and I had to choice but to take her) I stopped every three hours to change, feed, and play with her. I already knew her routine, so I just followed it exactly as I would have at home. She didn't fuss, or cry. I talked to her while she was awake and played the radio softly while she slept so she would know that I was still there. She has been on several other trips even though they were much shorter, like 3 hours trips, and she still does well. I just hope when she gets older she does well on trips as she does now :O) She is now 3 months 3 weeks old. Hope this helps!!

I traveled those distances with my daughter when she was about the same age. I left early in the morning, around 4:30 so that around 8:30 when she woke up, (and 4 hours into the trip) we would be about half way there and could stop and rest and eat and stretch and all of that. Then we drove another two, stopped and rested again, then drove the final two. When you stop, be sure to stop places where the two of you can be out of the car... even if he's out of his car seat, he'll still feel confined in the car and will want to be out. He'll feel more rested if his periods of rest are out of the vehicle. Planning the trip for times that he'll be sleeping is your best bet. Good luck!

Leaving at his bedtime will irratate him. And dont leave at a time of day where hes most active because hes gonna want to move around and then here we goo again. Lol. But anyways play with him alot so that he can get tired and he'll doze off. Give it try!
Good Luck!

you will possibly desire to get a seat for him, I knwo it is expensive yet specific it truly is going to likely be truly worth it. 2d, ask a doctor approximately this if there is something which you supplies him to sleep lots throughout the flight. something it is made for toddlers and hazard unfastened. There are some hebs you could attempt yet ask a dr first. sturdy luck i comprehend it is touch.
