The United Nations are involved in the sanctions against Iran and the United States is a member of that faction. The UN security council has ruled that to allow nuclear weaponry development in Iran would propose a danger first of all to its neighbors. If you look at the events of Iran, their society, the belief in human life and its value, and the possibility that the neighboring countries would be danger of destruction. You do not give wmd to a people that would not show the amount of restraint and responsibility necessary for a member of that community. If we were to follow that philosophy we would also be giving firearms to those that are incarcerated in prisions. It would be the same thing and almost as destructive. It is not just a threat to the US that was the qualifier in the UN actions, there is a mixed but majority feeling by members of the nuclear community also about admitting Iran to its ranks.

Iranians are intelligent and hard-working people with a questionable government.

They can't have nuclear technology because the Iranian government would use it to make nuclear bombs or supply the material to other crazy governments to make nuclear bombs and use them in terrorist attacks against western and Islamic nations.

Saudi Arabia has threatened military invasion of Iraq and Iran if the Shi'ites develop nuclear capabilities. So Iran cannot have nuclear technology.

Ahhh a question from overseas.

First, it is the UN who is precluding the Iranian government from having nuclear technology. This is because the Iranian government will not comply with imspections.

Secondly, we know you want it for nuclear weapons. Amanadijandqesta;lzfa cniusw8ry (or however you spell your Hitler-esque leader's name) wants to nuke Israel and Western Europe.

So stop whining and overthrow him. Then let a real nuclear power like the US help you develop a better source of power.

loool my friend im Iranian and believe me the goverment that Iran has now is crazy. Their a bunch of muslims who are retarded and have destroyed our great country that has over 5000 years of great history. So i agree with who ever says that Irans goverment is is crazy and stupid but heres a tip dont insult its people and history. Until the revolution Iran was well respected in the world at that time Iran had a King not a muslim ape looking retarded. ohh and heres a fact for you guys. Iran and Persia are the same thing even from the start of the persian empire persians called them selves Iranians Persian is the GREEK name for Iranians and in 1934 Irans king changed the name officialy to Iran so other countries called them Iranians and not Persians which isnt the Iranian name for Iran. :)

Not true. Lewis F is a Muslim, and I am sure he doesn't see his fellow Muslims as heathens. As to Iran not being a threat, that sort of flippant and lackadaisical mindset is what allowed the students to storm through the gates, overpowering the Marines on duty, and ultimately, holding the US Embassy for 400+ days, when I was 9 years old.

Nuclear technology is a pandora's box that the human race was not morally advanced enough to handle.. I wish we wouldn't have discovered it quite as soon as we did.. but it's here and we have to find our morality to survive with it... most of the Iranian people are good folk as far as I can tell.. and there would be no problem with them having the technology.. Tehron however is not morally up to the challenge and there in lies the problem.

Iran is a Theocracy and the last thing the world needs is a nuclear armed religious zealot. I just don't think the threat of mutual destruction would work anymore.

You mean why do we not want them to have nuclear capability? Because their President comes out on a weekly basis, pretty much, and says that America is the great evil and it will soon be destroyed. Given that mentality, who do you think will be only too happy to take the responsibility for exchanging Washington, DC, with a smoking crater?
