Why are men such slaves to beauty?

It never ceases to amaze me how beauty can turn men's heads - and turn their lives upside down!

This may be more of a rhetorical question, but I am always amazed at the POWER that beauty has over men - that's really the most accurate word to describe it!

Are there any men out there who will turn down a beautiful woman and resist her?! Do men ever even try?

We are visual. It's not a good thing, or a bad thing.......just how we're built.

Women tend to be more relational, (explains why you'll see a stunning woman with a less then perfect physical specimen, that has a great sense of humor), but society is doing it's best to try to remake women into more visual beings.

Society has also tried to teach men to think only with their genitalia. There are some around that value relationship. They may well be the exception, but they DO exist..... ask my wife, (who is Gorgeous!) The search may be long & difficult, but definately worth the effort! Does this answer your question?

I have been on both ends of this and have done my own personal study. Now I worked for a fortne 500 company for over 20 years and there were some very beautiful women there but they couldn't buy a date while the average girl got all the dates and were married and I questioned myself -is it that the one that think she is so gorgeous with standards too high that won't allow the average guy a chance to get to know her? Then I thought abou this as well, the guys will flirt and lust after the most beautiful women but they end up marrying the average girl. Now when I say I was on both sides of this, when I was a teenager about 19 I was firm and fully packed and could get just about anyone I wanted but then I got married and had several babies and gravity took its toll and I went through a depression because my husband died and I gained so much weight I was almost up to 300lbs, I would see myself in pictures and would be like oh my god what a beast I have become. I could never get the guy I wanted, never felt pretty or attractive but then I started loosing the weight and got back down to a normal size 10 and now I am not firm but I am still fully packed and it amazed me how my face (although) a little older went back and I saw that attractive woman I once was the change was so drastic that people I had worked with for years would see me and go....who are you and they would look at my work id and go.....oh my God you don't even look like the same person......so many guys in the building that would never notice me at 300lbs were now wanting to talk with me and walk with me and invite me to breakfast, lunch and dinner but after being on both sides beauty does get you more favorable responses than being not so pretty.....Now I'm not saying that Big is not beautiful but on me is wasn't, I'm down to my 10-12 and I love it and I love the attention it gets me from time to time. So I said all this to say that a man is always going to be attracted to beautiful women and there is nothing we can do about it but the average girl ends up with the man/husband.

My conclusion is that men (and women too for that matter as well!) are all naturally inclined to like beauty and attractive people. Yet as time wears on, they date these types of people and find them to be really mean and conceited and disgusting.

By this time, beauty no longer is an issue (and most times the person is already older and more mature) and the person looks for personality/other traits that are ideal in a person, and puts less emphasis on beauty.

Depends. Being hot makes up for a lot of other shortcomings. I think I may be more atypical than most though, cuz I really don't put up with snobby girls, even if they are hot... I tend to make them feel pretty stupid. The occasional cute girl with a great attitude though, yeah, no matter how sweet the ugly girl is the hot one is good to look at even when she's complaining, bitching about something, etc. Ever heard the phrase trophy wife?

Beautiful women connect with emotionally immature males for the most part because these men are still trying to 1) impress the world but 2) & more importantly looking to recieve life sustaining approval connected to their mothers emotional needs.

I agree with your thesis. I also think it works the other way around as well. because of the world gives such an unhealthy, overemphasis on physical appearance, lots of women spend countless hours and untold dollars on trying to help them appear more beautiful. If men and women just accepted who they really were, all of those expenditures could go somewhere else.

Men can admire the beauty of a woman.....but he also has evolved in his brain to look at it the right way. He can coose to controll himself and appreciate it in a respectfull way toward his significant other. Beauty is only skin deep........just because she is beautifull on the out side ...dosn't mean she is beautifull on the inside. Looks are only temporary and the beautifull person could age very ugly. men are sad when they only judge a book by it's cover.

Even if there's not a man in sight for 25 miles women will doll up for 2 hours just to impress each other and have little cat whisper fights over cocktails about whose boobs and nails are fake and who is wearing a slimming panty and who is dressed like a little whore.

Wow. I feel it is the exact opposite. Most women use makeup, hairsyles and clothing to draw attention from other women. I don't mean in a sexual way, but more of a competition. Most men don't even notice all the stuff women do. Eyelash curlers?? Come on.

Well, coming from someone who used to be a raving beauty (myself), I would have to say that yes they do. I'm older now so I'm not on the top 10 list or anything, but back in the day I would have guy after guy interested in me based on my looks, but the ones I thought had some depth wouldn't reciprocate alot of times.
