Nuclear, geo thermal, and fossil fuel (sun of the past).
Wind, 'solar' (sun) and hydro electric (running water due to evaporation and rain) are all depending on present sunshine.

Nuclear and geothermal. Wind is due to the heating from the sun and creating atmospheric differences in temperature, solar is obviously sun dependent, fossil fuels are from the sun in past times, and hydro-electric is due to rainfall from solar heating of the oceans and converting kinetic energy into electric energy.
Nuclear energy is released from converting mass into energy, and is not a chemical process as ann stated. Geothermal is similar to nuclear energy except that it is natural radiation from radioactive uranium, thorium and potassium.

Nuclear is a chemical reaction between two elements which were formed in the Earths crust as a result of the planets activity which is influenced by it movement arround the sun and the moon.
Geothermal is the production of energy from the earth, Gyser, hot water, Steam ect,. again from the earth as a result of it interaction with the Sun. Wind is the result of heating the atmosphere by guess what? the Sun. Solar, Sun again, Fossil fuel is the stored energy of all the plants which grew at the time the coal layers were laid down, Sun again.. Hydro-electric, water derived, The water is produced by the formation of Volcanoes under the ocean which relases water as it byproduct. Again as a result of the Earths interaction with the Sun.I am sorry to tell you we are totally dependant on the Great ball of fire in the sky.

Nuclear, and possibly Geothermal and hydro-electric. Ultimately it depends on how fine of a comb you wish to use.
