Because the influence of the moon on human behaviour and on the tides has been "proven".
Astrology has not been proven - yet.

The moon influences the tide. It has never been proven to influence behavior, menstrual cycles, etc.
If you really beleive in astrology, you basically believe that the future is 100% determined. That is, the phases of the moon, jupiter, etc. can all be predicted with extreme precision right now with a very basic computer program... so if that's the case, why aren't astrologers making fortunes on Wall Street? Why can't they predict their own demise? And do you really think that how your day goes is determined by what month you were born in? You might as well believe your day is determined by how many licks are in a tootsie pop.
If you believe in astrology, you might as well believei nthe Easter Bunny because there's just as much logic in doing so.

It has never been proven that the Moon influences our brains! Even if it did, what would be the mechanism for it? It can't be gravity or the tidal force. The tidal force is a differential force - it depends on the DIFFERENCE in distance between the side of Earth closest to the Moon and the side of Earth farthest from the Moon. You could talk about a tidal force on your brain from the Moon, but no one side of your brain is any closer to the Moon than any other side, so the tidal force would be essentially zero. You get way more of a tidal effect from a grapefruit held over your head, or from the Earth for that matter.

Actually, Astrology no longer keeps it's ancient link to the stars.
Originally, you were born under a sign because the sun was in that sign on your birthday. Now you were born under a sign because that's when the sun -used- to be in a constellation on your birthday. The earth precesses (wobbles a little) in it's orbit around the sun over a couple thousand years. Because of this, if you were born in the astrological sign of Libra... the sun was really in the constellation Virgo when you were born.
There's a better article, on an astrologer's website, that explains this and also goes into what some modern astrology has done to compensate for the "problem"... but, well. Its still an issue :)

It has not been proven that the moon influences our brains. And what in the world do tides have to do with astrology? That bit of your question is a non sequitur.

Mostly because the Moon is not considered a major influence in astrology. Astrology cares more about Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and those objects have not been shown to influence our brains and the tides.

While it has been proven that there is an influence, as you suggest, it has not even come close to be proven that the influence is of the type claimed by astrology.

The moon has twice the tidal influence on us than the sun, even though the sun is 25 million times the mass of the moon.
So, you see, it is all because the moon is so close.
If the sun, which is itself 99.9% the mass of the whole Solar System only exerts that tiny tidal influence, you can totally discount the other planets. I mean totally...
And the stars....well, you think about it.

Lunar influences (tidal, menstrual cycle) are because the moon is so close.
The doctor in the delivery room exerts more gravitational pull on the baby than Mars or any other planetary body (other than Sun, Moon, and Earth).

hiya there! i like this question! it truly is not a rant, this question is valid and each pupil of astrology might desire to ask it. i might go with to furnish my INTUITIVE concept as i'm no longer a scientist so i will't answer from a deeper point of view. i will say from watching technological know-how and the planets for some time now that they do have capability, they are no longer lifeless products of rock. Now the asteroids are lifeless products of rock: Vesta, Juno, Ceres etc. however the planets themselves have been shown to have existence on them, unlike ours yet they do have existence. in case you think of approximately what others are talking of as Gravity, AND THE ORDER OF THE UNIVERSE. How can one no longer contemplate the opportunity of the planets, constellations and different stars no longer having a capability on us. Take a splendid occasion of the moon case in point. The moon DOES have outcomes on our bodies. we are over ninety% water (recommendations coated) and the moon governs the oceans, seas, lakes, our orbit... you do no longer think of it does no longer have outcomes on US??? It does and it truly is taken into consideration one of our planets (or lighting fixtures as we call it in astrology) i know those planets and the signs and warning signs (constellations) have a capability on us and our existence. even nevertheless, I do know that we are the masters of our very own destiny, no count in case you have self belief in reincarnation or no longer. all of us have a purpose. no count if that purpose is very own or if it spreads to all of humanity we are nonetheless on top of problems with it. The planets, or international are basically impacts. i think of this questions is marvelous and that i replaced into venerated to take a stab at it! very sturdy factors (on maximum) from the poster who referred to as this questions a "rant".
