Well, I'm not pregnant yet, but my hubby and I are wanting another baby soon. I use my straightening iron 3 or 4 times a week and the smell is a combination of electrical and I guess burnt hair and it makes me nervous that I'm breathing that stuff in. Which straightening iron is the best, doesn't have much of a smell, and is the safest? I'm tempted to just go buy a Chi...

I use one, and the smell shouldnt be a problem. The main issues with smells are stuff like paint, gas, etc.

It should be safe to use. However, I had my hair straightened using that Japanese method, which is great but expensive. Saves a lot of time, though, and my hair is stick straight until it grows out. You'd have to do it before you got pregnant though, because of the chemicals, but you would love the results.

I see no reason why a straighening iron would be harmful to your baby.

Although it does sound like you're frying your hair. You shouldn't get a burnt hair smell. Perhaps you have the temp up too high.

Maybe you should lower how many times u use it, so you will not inhale it, I personally have straight hair, so I never have to worry about this thing so I really don't know a correct answer. Goodluck with getting pregnant though!

I always ask my ob/gyn questions like this. I'm tempted to say no, it won't hurt the baby, but I'm not a doctor.
