I'd say "I'd like to be somewhat established in a rewarding career with a stable, forward thinking company with which I can continue to grow professionally. From a personal standpoint, I'd like to have a good balance in my life with time to enjoy fun and enriching activities with family and friends."

That ought to shut em up! ; )

For large corporate structure the answer should be "Well, for the first few years, I would like to really get a strong understanding of my job and responsibilities. I think in the first year, you just get your feet wet, the next year you really start to fine tune your skills. After a few years, I would like to talk to my manager and discuss what skills are needed to get to the next level. Hopefully I could incorporate some stretch assignments that align with my current job, but prepare for the next level. Good luck. Interviewers want to know that you don't want to take one job to just try to get another. I work at huge corporate structure and the big turn off for us is when someone says "well, I figure, I can just take this job to get myself in the door" WRONG ANSWER.

There is truly no right answer. They look more for what your life goal is. If you answer the question, in all seriousness, that you want to win an Oscar in 5 years or something outlandish like that, you come across as someone who doesn't live in the real world. If you answer it with a realistic goal of getting your Masters' degree in English Lit or something like that, you appear to be hardworking and goal-oriented.

i plan on being with your companie and be moved up. I plan on doing a great job and contributing the best i can to your company. i guess this sounds good. Just be confident when you say whatever you are going to say. That is what they are really looking for i think is personality and confidence.
