Don't you think, even if they disagree, both the repubs and dems should stand as a united front when dealing with the rest of the world?
Fine, have your disagreements, that's what the floor of the Senate and Congress is for, but Pelosi going to a country that the US has called problematic, that's just wrong, in my view.
It shows weakness, it shows lack of cohesion, it exemplifies the superficial showboating our politicians on both sides have come to understand is key in politics.
In my honest opinion, I feel Pelosi meeting with Syria is just as detrimental as Bush continuing to send troops to Iraq. Our country's political parties are completely out of control and not longer serve the 'will of the people'.

Funny how supporters of Pelosi have an extremely low comprehension level. The question poised was directed at both politican parties acting without the willof the people in mind. But like far right, far left is just as illogical in thought. Thanks for making my point.

Yes, i don't trust her. I am worried she will undermine the USA just to assure Bush's failure. She has a hostile agenda, that's for sure...

While Bush and the media have been excoriating Pelosi for visiting Iraq - they had already arranged for a Republican delegation to meet with the Syrian president last Sunday.
So - is the Republicans' visit to Syria indicative of a fractured government?? Not according to Bush's outrage about Pelosi.

I applaud Pelosi for taking the reins. If she (or any American for that matter) can make progress in the middle east... It's a good thing for all.
The Bush administration has never attempted the slightest effort at diplomacy. Never. I'd much rather have Pelosi over there representing our country than Bush or Cheney. They are not America. I liked what Pelosi recently said to Bush:
"Calm down with the threats. There's a new congress in town"
Now that's diplomacy in action.

The point is that Bush said Syria and others are unwilling to talk to the US, so what's the point? Pelosi is checking to see if that's the case. Not only are we in Iraq & Afghanistan(sorta) this administration appears ready to go to war with any of a dozen nations. I don't believe Democracy is a weakness-rather it's a great strength. We shouldn't have started the war in Iraq and we need to think more carefully about when we go to war.

I'll tell you once you explain the difference between what Pelosi is doing and what 3 republican members of the house did in Syria this past weekend.

I think Pelosi's actions are evidence that she is a vain egotistical woman who can't stand being out of the spotlight that she believes she so richly deserves. It seems quite evident to me that Mrs. Pelosi isn't satisified with being speaker of the house. For some reason she seems to feel she is now the queen.

Bush singled her out. there were Repubs from Congress there as well and he did not address them in the same way. if anything is fracturing about it, that would have to be GWB's reaction not Pelosi's action.

If you ask me it is very irresponsible of her to go there. It is a waste of tax payers money. Just like a waste of money spending days in the house on non-binding resolutions and bills that have no chance of passing. Well I guess they will just have to raise our taxes to pay for more useless stuff.

I think it reflects her extreme partisanship - she puts the interests of the Democratic Party above all else, including the interests of the country. I think there are Republicans that do (and have done) this as well (Tom DeLay comes to mind).
