My stock option executed yesterday after holding it 4 weeks. Question: It executed even though there was NO volume. Has not been much volume at all lately. It was for Pfeizer: PFE, June 2007, 32.50 Call How does this work? The option executes and there is NO volume?

I am not at all sure I undersand your question. This is my best guess. You bought some PFE Jun $32.50 calls four weeks ago. You had a good-til-cancelled (GTC) order to sell the options that executed yesterday, but when you looked up the option it showed there had been no volume yesterday. You do not understand how it could have traded without any volume.

If I understood your question correctly, whenever a trade occurs the volume for the day increases so the only possible answer is that you got bad data. That could have happened one of three ways:

(1) you might have been looking at twenty minute delayed quotes less than twenty minutes after the trade took place,
(2) you might have typed the wrong symbol, or
(3) you might have received bad information from your quote supplier. If you get your quotes from Yahoo that is a real possibility. Yahoo is not the best source for accurate options quote data. I suggest you use another source, such as

I did check the Business Week Online site, which has historical information for options, and it shows volume of 10 contracts for yesterday.

If I did not understand your question correctly, please add additional details.

With an option, you own no stock. It gives you the option to buy or sell stock at a agreed upon price & time. Your call option expired worthless like 80% of options.

Good luck
