If they had Tresspassed, and would they have said sorry 2 days later without putting up a fight. Or is that what we are facing once the PC crowd takes over the US like they have the British.

taa so you are endorsing the capture, and not just a simple escort out of the territory.

If their commanding officer told them not to assult the Iranians then yes. Marines do as they are told.

Do you think they would have just started shooting and been all killed by the Iranians that highly outnumbered them just to make a point and very possibly start an international incident of even more import? Of course they would have capitulated and been taken hostage. The Iranians have given us a very clear picture of their penchant for lying about everything and anything. Britain has not. Sorry, but I believe the GPS before I believe the Iranians. Let's see what the British do to extract their personnel, they've asked us to stay out of it and we should. Do you know so little about the military that you call marines "soldiers?"

So it would have been better to start a gun fight that would have escalated into an armed conflict with Iran. I'm sure the officer in charge of the 15 British soldiers commanded them to stand down.

Do you actually believe that the best solution to a problem is armed conflict? Do you actually understand what would occur if there had been a gun fight? Do you really want to live during another global conflict?

Not having been there, I'd hate to second guess the Brits. The thing That I'm having a real problem with is that there was a british Destroyer on scene and they did nothing to stop the kidnapping. The news reported that the Destroyer Captain had to radio for permission to take action, and that the kidnapping was accomplished before he could gain clearance. My question is, why are these people constantly being put in this position of being micro-managed? Is this how wars are going to be conducted? We, and I mean the USA, the UK and all of our allies, train these people to a razor sharpness, and then don't let them use their own initiative. It stinks.

Who knows what Marines would have done in the same situation. Still, from what I have heard the Iranians were lightly armed and would not have been able to put up much of a fight. Also the British cruiser thje boats came from was nearby, but was ordered not to interfere. If they really were in Iraki waters I don,t understand why.

The British were not special ops nor a combat unit. It would be closer to a scenario where 15 US Coast Guard seamen were captured.
(not to bash the USCG of which I have the highest regard for it is an instance of training and equipment)

First of all, a Marine is a Marine, he's not a "soldier".

Their conduct when attacked would depend upon the orders issued by their superiors. Marines are well-disciplined above all else. If a superior told them to fight, they would either win or there would be 15 dead Marines. If he told them to stand down, that's what they would have done.

It's real obvious they were out of place, and now they have to pay the consequences. It is a diplomatic problem now and the World is watching to see how it all plays out. I doubt the Brits will shake the tree too much and cost the lives of the soldiers. It isn't George Bush's affair.

in the journey that your convoy is ambushed, and you're wounded and subconscious as your unit gets overrun, how precisely are you going to "whip out my pistol and attempt to kill them than be beheaded slowly and painfully"? to no longer point out the fact that very very few workers have been captured in this conflict, and commonly they have been abducted off of our posts or whilst on patrol. purely on account which you will possibly particularly bypass down combating does not propose that that's what is going to take place.
