Your asking two different things. Yes you can use that kind of cable to hook an mp3 player up to the inputs on a tv, but obviously yous only going to hear your MP3 on the tv not see it. Not many laptops have a AV output port usually if anything they have an svideo output which you can hook up to your tv. You can also buy a VGA to Composite adaptter which allows you to plug into the Monitor output of your laptop and plug straigt into your TV. You can use the rca plug to composite(white/red) from your laptop to tv to get just the sound from your laptop onto your TV.

Laptops (and desktops) have VGA Graphics. Your TV is designed for NTSC graphics. They are not compatible.
If you hvae a Video OUT (most laptops do) then you can hook up a Video cable and a VGA to NTSC Converter. Otherwise, look for the S-Video connection.
The RCA Jacks may give you signal, but again, you are dealing with two DIFFERENT types of signal.

usually no. if you want a laptop on TV, then use something like an S-Video cable, and a headphone to Red-White RCA cable.

To know more about this we would have to know the model TV and model laptop. But generally speaking that will not work regardless of the models. The cables are just not made for that.

you cant. Depending on the laptop and the TV, you can use an "S-Video" cable. If your TV will handle it, a monitor cable will work too.

"headphone type jack" is for sound only and you would only get sound, u'd need either the moitor cable (blue with screws) or a s-video
