My roommate found a egg like thing in our beta fish bowl, it looks like a white ball inside of a jelly ball. We had a gold fish, a beta fish, and a sucker fish in the bowl before, but then she cleaned it, and now the beta is alone, and we found that. What might it be?

To be honest the first thing that comes to mind is a bit of uneaten food now covered in a slimey fungus. Poop is also a possibility, either just slimey or covered in fungus. The fungus would be normal and nothing to worry about, just remove the item and dispose of it.

It could be water snail eggs too.(mostly located away from direct sunlight like under a leaf) It's common if you have aquatic plants in the aquarium.

Isn't a beta fish called a fighting fish as well? Was it a male or female? I had 3 males and a female fighting fish in seperate bowls...And i can't remember which but it did get that jelly like thing stuck on the plants(not a leaf)...it's either eggs or the other one.

I'm not sure what to make of it from your description - what size is the "thing"? Was this found only after the betta was in the tank, or when you moved the other fish? Do you know if your betta is male or female?

Another thing it might be is an aquarium "fungus" on a piece of uneaten food. I'll give you a link to another question I answered about this with a photo - just look for my answer to this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Akj0VYXdLMNktB5E5A0hKGfty6IX?qid=20070402202549AAV3jbj&show=7#profile-info-0OtFN02maa
