I'm considering a move to the Cleveland area (for a job in Mayfield Heights). Where are the best places to live in and near Cleveland?

Mayfield Heights is on the east side so you'll probably want to stay on the east side (I 480 can be horrible at rush hour).

So on the east side I would say top suburbs would be Shaker Heights (beautiful architecture for the homes and scenery) and Cleveland Heights (more beautiful architecture but also has a lot of diverse shops and diverse down to earth people). Here's some views on others: The Solon, Beachwood, Pepper Pike and that whole area is the Rich people area and a bit snooty if you ask me. But if you like the SUV driving, mochachino drinking, prada wearing, JAP lifestyle then that's where you want to be. (no offense to anyone who lives there. It is a generalization and one that all Clevelanders know about. Chill out and don't get offended). Mayfield area is fine too. It's either a lot of blue collar family homes or a lot of single professionals in apartment complexes with a whole bunch of stores all up and down Mayfield road (but very congested driving with all that shopping). I'm not too familiar with the more north easter suburbs like Lyndhurst or Euclid but they are similar to Mayfield in a lot of ways (blue collar families, middle income). I would stay away from Maple Heights and Warrensville area. Some of inner city attitudes have made their way in those areas. But Bedford and the Bedford side of Bedford Heights (I 271 is the line that divides the sides of Bedford Heights) are still good.

It all depends on what you are looking for an what you can afford. Contact me if you want to know more.

Excuse most of the post Cleveland has a long standing history of East Side vs. West side & everyone always wants to say how the East side is terrible but it's actually very nice and very diverse areas. Some of the places mentioned are not as crime ridden as some people try to say. Anyways I don't see why you wouldn't want to live in Mayfield Hts. it's near your job, and the free way so if you want to go downtown you're right there, also there is a lot places to go shopping in that area.
Non free way access to Mayfield Hts area nice places would be Cleveland Hts., University Hts., Lyndhurst, Richmond Heights, Beachwood, and South Euclid. & yes there is a very large Jewish population over here on the East side. There are parts of Euclid that is really nice and also Wickcliff isn't that far away from Mayfield Hts either. If you like a more diverse area with a lot of unique shops check out Cleveland Hts.

Depends on if you are renting or buying, how much you want to spend, if you have kids, etc. Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights are great areas for older homes. But property taxes are really really high. Does the company offer relocation assistance? If so you will probably be hooked up with a Realtor or company that will tour you in different areas. If you're working in Mayfield heights I would definitely stay on the east side somewhere as that I-271 and I-480 traffic can be a real pain -especially in the winter!

Depends how much you want to spend and if you have a family. Do you want to buy or rent? There are some huge mansions in ShakerHeights area, which are for rent pretty cheap (the owners can't get ride of them, so they rent them out, hoping for better weather). With a family, you may want to move to the area around Solon, Twinsburg, low crime, very family orieneted. If you are single, you could look at something on the waterfront near the entertainment areas. Take a tour with a real estate agent, just call up somebody, they are going to jump over themselves to help you. Howard Hanna is the biggest Agency. Moving to Cleveland, poor thing.

Patriot Self Defense system is successful for two key factors. The initial is that it use basic actions integrated from all the most effective battling styles available. The 2nd is that the makers of this program really did not quit there, they took these steps into the lab and ran all form of clinical examinations to amass as much data as feasible before readying to work to examine this data and created a scientific developed self-defense system that fairly truthfully transforms the market.

Most of the East Side is going ghetto until you get out to about Beachwood and beyond. For all of you sensitive people out there, ghetto does NOT mean black, it means dirty and crime-ridden. When I lived in Shaker it was nice. Now much of it is an overpriced dump. Euclid, South Euclid, Wickliffe, much of the same. Cleveland/Cleveland Heights, etc., why bother. I'd move to the West Side like Farout, or else just move way out East (Chagrin Falls or beyond) or else choose a different city altogether.

If this is your son, and he is wearing Army Green Class A Dress, and he "needs it for a party," I can only assume one thing: he is in an Army JROTC Program. You can contact the school and ask them to replace it, but you will most likely be paying for them. I forget the NSN for the item, but I do know they aren't terribly expensive. If he gets a brand new one, you will have to take him to get it altered/hemmed. This may take up to max one day and is around 5 bucks. Another would be to ask if you can get used (dry-cleaned) pair that already fits him that another cadet already direct exchanged or returned after the school year. They can probably work on a discount for you, but in my opinion, the school would be the best option. Other options are - On base, a uniform store, or online. You need to have his waist size and pant length - the pants should fall no lower than the second eyelet from the bottom on his Oxford black shoes. If he is in the real army, he shouldn't be wearing Class A greens anymore and he needs to be a big boy, grow up, and buy his own uniforms (which he gets a stipend for.) Do not take that condescendingly, but that is the truth.

Lived on the East side for 20+ years. Bought a house on the West side 6 years ago and I like it much better, even though most of my friends and family are on the East side!

Hope that helps.
