Is the person stubborn? Sounds as if so. Never call a person stupid, is my idea. Some people excel at different things, but, there are rarely people who excel in nothing. Name calling leads to labeling and labeling leads to very poor self esteem. Remember, we are not all taught the same things at the same ages. Some people have not learned some THINGS, yet. I like to think they will catch up.

Well, when have you ever seen anything good come out of calling somebody stupid? Probably never, right? If venting about your problem to a friend, then I say yell all the names you want, but actually saying that to the person will only create a fire, but hey if your looking to fight then that would be right down your alley. Overall, no matter what your personal opinion is of that person, it is not up to you to distinguish their level of education.

It never really is. Saying that word causes short term and long term damage to a person's psyche. How many times do we hear about the shy, quite person who snaps, and them we come to find out that they were mentally abused. It turns kids into bullys who act out on other kids and just adds to a vicious cycle of hate that spreads like wildfire. Just think of how bad it hurts when someone calls you stupid, not very good. It's okay to say that someone did something stupid, but don't call anyone stupid. It's not nice. You can consider the act of not calling someone stupid, and taking a second to think before you speak a random act of kindness!

I don't think it's alright to call someone stupid as name calling can be very painful. Even if that person laughs it off...deep down they feel it.

Now, if someone is doing something downright STUPID then there are other ways you can point that out without name calling.
FOR EXAMPLE:

Your husband decides that the campfire he has built isn't burning hot enough or big enough so he decides to dump gasoline on top of the fire. The gasoline ignites so quickly that your husbands clothes catch fire. There is a whole group of family and friends watching this. Everyone begins screaming "Drop down, Drop down!" and can't believe what is happening. Your husband tries to beat the flames out with his hands and instead of stopping, dropping and rolling like EVERYBODY KNOWS your'e supposed to do in the case of catching on fire, he begins to tear his clothes off. He is running through the woods tearing each item of flaming clothing off until he is buck naked. Now the entire group of family and friends is laughing hysterically and you can do nothing but shake your head since this is only one of the many extremely STUPID things your beloved husband has done...in fact, you are surprised he has lived this long.

Instead of screaming "YOU STUPID IDIOT!" like you want to do, you should say something like this:
"Wow Honey, you really scared me. I thought you were going to burn up. Next time do you think you could maybe just blow on the fire?"

Or even something like this:

"Gee Sweetheart, I wish you would think twice about things like that before go ahead and do them. You really scared me and plus, you're naked!"

Anyhow, it's never nice to call names.

Good Luck!

Never. When you say this you are lowering yourself to the level of the person you are calling stupid. Why would you even bother anyway?

I don't think it is nice to call them stupid but you can say what they are doing or saying you think is stupid.
