Are you breastfeeding? If so, BOTH of you need to be treated or you'll just pass it back and forth.
Make sure you are boiling things like pacis, bottle nipples, breastpump parts that come in contact with the milk, anything she puts in her mouth so you can kill the thrush.
Start feeding her yogurt with active/live cultures. Give her acidopholis. (You can buy the capsules and break them open over a wet finger and let her suck it off your finger.)
Another option is Gentian Violet, but it is very messy. (Turns everything purple.)

When my daughter had that popsicles would help numb it. Also There is an over the counter thing called Rincinol, it is a soothing oral rinse and if you child swollows any it is safe and harmless, this will coat the thrush and help ease some of the discomfort. Rincinol can be found where the mouth wash items are at Walgreens or a drug store.

Be sure when using the nystatin that you don't use the dropper--put the med into a small cup and use a cotton swab to "paint" the inside of her mouth. Don't let her eat or drink anything for 20 mins afterwards. If she uses a paci/bottles you need to sterilize EVERYTHING daily until the thrush is gone.

My 8.5mth old just went thru this. Same meds. If you are breast feeding, make sure to wash your nipples BEFORE you put it in her mouth. If bottle feeding, try soaking the nipples in VERY HOT water and then washing by hand with an antibacterial soap, rinse thoroughly. I was giving her the meds and would stop when it looked gone, but then would appear again. Also try water in a sippy cup. Make sure to wash the spout if she doesn't drink all and you give some more later. My daughter's cleared up (for now!) just 2 days ago. Hope this helps! Sue

i don't know anything about this, but i felt bad that you weren't getting any answers. i looked around online, but there isn't much addressing the pain that goes with oral thrush. i would check with the doctor just to make sure that it doesn't interfere with the medication prescribed, but you could try baby oraljel. This may help numb her mouth and alleviate some pain for a little while.
Best wishes.

You need to make sure that what caused he Thrush in the first place has been eliminated. Don't let her pick up pacifiers off the floor and put them in her mouth. Make sure all of her hard plastic toys have been sanitized (Most can be run through on the top rack of the dishwasher) Make sure her bottles (If she takes one) are clean and sanitized. I always ran my son's bottles through the dishwasher. You can get the little baskets to put the nipples and rings in.

does she have a dummy ? if so its a real pain but you need to wash it everytime she takes it out of her mouth , otherwise the thrush on the dummy will be rreinfecting her mouth , my twins had it at the same time when they were 4wks old .
its not only her dummy , anything she puts inher mouth needs to be washed and sterilised, it will be difficult given her age everything she see's probably goes in her mouth but you have to stick to it .
good luck.

Yogurt, if she likes it, will help. You can also try to get her to rinse with a 10% vinegar solution, but I doubt she'll go for that!
Have you asked the doc if she can have oral medication like Diflucan? I don't know if kids can take that or not but I'd ask.
