The fact is no one knows how much alcohol effects the baby. More is definitely worse than small amounts but no one knows where the barrier is drawn. While generally the occasional glass of wine is thought to be harmless if you can go without alcohol why bother? Most women find out they are pregnant by 6 wks and rarely have complications from drinking before they knew. Many sources do however say that alcohol is the most dangerous in the first trimester. If shes concerned she should discuss it with her OB and abstain from alcohol use after.

Hate say it, but usually when someone admits to doing something they know they should not do, they tend to greatly understate just how much they did. (IE: If a person with COPD smokes, he will tell you 2-3 cigarettes a day when it is actually a pack and a half.) Your friend said she drank some liquor, not intentionally. How do you not intentionally drink booze? That sounds like a clear case of denial. Lastly, in this day and age, needing three months to figure out you are pregnant is pretty lame. As soon as you are 2 weeks late on a period, you can buy over the counter pregnancy tests to find out what is going on and then take appropriate actions, such as not drinking.
My gut assessment, your friend has a drinking problem, is in denial about the pregnancy and is looking for some reason to get an abortion. If she needs one, tell her to look up "fetal alcohol syndrome" and she will get LOTS of information about the possible effects of booze on an infant.

Well, 3 months is pretty far along. I had some alcohol before finding out at about 4-5 weeks and the doctor said don't worry, it happens to a lot of people. Everything seems to be fine. Just tell her not to do it anymore, that's the most important thing.

First, I don't condone drinking at all. But it really depends on how much she drank. If she is a raging alcoholic and drinks morning, noon, and night, she has probably done severe damage to the baby. However, if it was a little sip or even a glass by mistake, there was probably no harm done.

Its variety of like a era. You bleed and bypass blood clots. you will no longer actual see the fetus or something popping out of you. yet you could would desire to work out a Dr in case you're miscarrying so as that they'd verify it and confirm all the tissue from the fetus comes out.

She shouldn't drink it anymore..
If she has not been drinking for the entire 3 months that she did not know she was pregnant, then there is a good chance the baby is okay. Especially if she only had one drink..
But if she had been drinking regularly, she should talk to her doctors about that.

how do you " not intentionally " drink liquor?. Let us hope she has not damaged the fetus. It could cause fetal alcohol syndrome. which stunts the growth of various parts of the brain, especially the part of the brain that contols conscience. People with fetal alcohol syndrome cannot calculate the consequences of their actions, 25% of all petty criminals have F.A.S.

A small amount won't do any harm, but she should not drink anymore now that she knows that she is pregnant. Many women smoke and drink until they find out they are pregnant and if they stop ASAP their babies are usually born healthy.

It shouldn't have any... As long as she didn't drink every day and got herself drunk to the point she passed out, there is no harm.. Just tell her not to drink anymore.. I drank when I was first pregnant without knowing it and my daughter turned out to be just fine... Tell her good luck for me.. And congrats

While it's kinda late to be finding out she's pregnant, I doubt she's done much, if any, harm. Many women smoke, drink, & take medications before they even realize they are pregnant. Tell her not to worry & to discuss it with her doctor when she has her first visit.
