In the UK, you should get your travel expenses and a lunch allowance if you are working all day, nothing more, or it wouldn't be voluntary would it?
You get the satisfaction of working for your community and you will be with a bunch of like minded people.
Voluntary experience is something more to add to your CV and I know many people who have obtained paid work within organisations they have volunteered in.

A humbling experience. It's good for the soul.
That's if you mean a "community service" type voluntary job.
Volunteers often fail to recognise the need for discipline and commitment. If you're there to serve, one must know that you can be counted on.

Experience and it looks good on applications. Yes, it's voluntary so there is nothing holding you there if you want to leave. I have had some bad experiences with voluntaring before, but I would do it again just not with the same people.

ultimately you get a fantastic sence of doing something very worthwhile and selfless for people in need of outside help and support. it is fulfilling work as long as you can afford not to be on a payroll, and have the spare time. i think you'll find its also something you can be proud of. you go! and well done!

You get a lot: you get experience, you get contacts, you learn how to show up and work, you have something you can add to your resume that will impress employers, and you may even get a job reference you can use in the future. You should definitely do it!

You get a lot of personal satisfaction. Since you didn't give any additional information, I cannot really advise you to do it or not. If it helps others, you should do it.
