I know this is a pretty silly question but I'm actually wondering what the real, serious answer is.

I guess you have to deal with rust

First of all, battle-ready full plate armour usually didn't cover back sides of the legs, either because you had to sit on a horse or because otherwise you couldn't walk.
Secondly, medieval cut of pants had a little lace-up part at the front. So if you had to go to pee, you just unlaced the stuff and... did your business.
If you had to go to number two, however, there was usually a special "flap" on your underwear. Since you'd be wearing a tunic under the armour, it was really quite irrelevant what the pants looked like. The "flap" had two buttons, you undid them.. and since there was no backside of the leg plates.. you did what you had.
I'll try to find a picture...

Edit: grrr, this is the best pic I can find, unfortunatelly. It was something like this, only the flap was at the back, over the... um.. opening. Held up by two buttons, usually.

You should have thought of that before you got up on that horse, young man!

My guess is that you have to take it all off. This sure would be a bad time to have diarrhea!

Not to worry. There's no way it can get out so no one will ever know.
