Changing the electric "cosmetics" in the bathroom after a remodel, the single pole switches for the lights failed to activate. There is Power flowing from the breaker and even tried putting the old switches back on, etc.

Not working and no window for light in the bathroom has become a problem to finish the job. Electricians can't be here until the end of the week.
Maybe some one else has encountered a similar problem on here and can help! Thank You.

My guess is a wiring problem. Try this link.

Check and see if you have a GFI outlet in the bathroom and see if it's hot. Reset it anyway to see if that is the problem. The next thing is to determine if you have voltage to the switch, you would need a voltage tester for this. If you have voltage on both sides of the switch, then maybe the light fixture was not rewired correctlly. Check the wiring, remove the wire nuts and check the wiring physically. If you don't feel comfortable with this then get a friend who knows electricity and have him/her help you.

Just for giggles, did you replace the light bulbs with new ones and are they screwed in tight? I know that sounds dumb, but I've seen it happen.

Sounds like a job for the pros~I would just run an extention cord and a lamp into the room until they can get there:) Better safe than sorry. Keep the kids away from the wires;)
Good Luck!!

Electricity can be dangerous. If you don't know what you're doing be very, very careful, or leave it for the electrician. I know that's not what you want to hear, but people die from electrical shock. Be patient. Perhaps a lamp of some convenient type can tide you over?

Use at your own risk. House wiring is USUALLY (your case may vary) hot wire is usually black, neutral is white. USUALLY the whites are connnected together, the black (power) comes into one side of the single pole switch and the black (continuing to the light fixture) goes in the other side of the switch.

well if you already have electricians doing the work just leave it for them to fix. Just make do until the end of the week.

hook togather the 2 wires in the wall. if it comes on, then it is the switch. if it dont come on, try changeing the bulb. check to see if you have power to the switch. check the wires to the fixture.
