I did, last month. I took Plan B right at Day 14 of my cycle when my husband and I had a broken condom. I was very scared because a lot of what I had read said it wouldn't work if you were ovulating or had already ovulated, and I have health problems that would prevent me from having a healthy pregnancy right now (2 heartbreaking miscarriages in 8 months and pulled off of TTC as a result). So I needed this to work, badly.
I am NOT pregnant. I had no early spotting or bleeding, but I got my period right on time.
From what I understand, 8% of women would normally get pregnant during week 2 and/or 3 of their cycle. Plan B cuts that 8% down to 1% - an 89% reduction. If you take it within the first 24 hours, the success rate (according to the person I spoke to at the Plan B hotline) is 95%. Not everyone ovulates every month, plus the time window of fertilization is very small. So - pregnancy can occur with Plan B, it does happen to some, but your chances are very low.
I will say that for me, I had a strong reaction and it intensified my PMS symptoms BIG time. I was nauseous from the time I took Plan B through the entire 2 weeks until I got my period. My breasts were sore and heavy feeling, and I was very bloated. I was convinced I would be pregnant, but my doctor said some people are more sensitive to the hormone changes than others.
Lastly, I also want to agree with others - this is NOT an abortion pill!!! If it truly worked as an abortion, the percentages would be MUCH higher and it wouldn't be available over the counter.

DO NOT LISTEN TO KAY
Plan B® is an emergency contraceptive that can still prevent a pregnancy after contraceptive failure, unprotected sex, or sexual assault.
Plan B® should be taken within 3 days (72 hours) of unprotected sex and can reduce the risk of pregnancy by up to 89%. But the sooner you take it the more effective it will be.
*****Plan B® is not RU-486 (the abortion pill); it will not work if you are already pregnant.*******

The plan be pill is only to be taken within 72 hours after intercourse so it can be taken anytime of the month. It is actually an abortion pill, because if you are pregnant within those 3 days it will kill the baby.

Yes it works, but you have to take it quickly. 72 hours is the maximum you can wait, but take it as soon as you can. Also, find a reliable method of birth control, like the patch and condoms, so you don't have to rely on Plan B except in an emergency.

Given the confusion between Plan B and RU-486 that pops up from time to time, just wanted to chime in that hardcorelullaby's anaylsis is correct & Kay is way off the mark.

yes. Plan B are hormones. It works by throwing off your bodies natural hormones. in order to become pregnant your hormone levels need to be just right and any amount over what is needed will interfere with you becoming pregnant. that is why it is crucial to take it within 72 hours.

Plan B is a backup choice. No matter when you take it it could or could not work.
