What should we do as individuals to help each other in our communities to solve this problem, which I believe it is?

Yes America has become too fat and lazy. The problem is that it is politically incorrect to criticize fat people. We should adopt attitudes similar to our intolerance of smoking or drug use. Obesity is second leading cause of preventable diseases (next to smoking). It puts a drain on our health care system. It makes health care more expensive for the those of us who take the time to exercise and eat in moderation. People eat to live, we shouldn't live to eat.

We don't encourage people to smoke or drink excessive amounts of alcohol on a daily basis. Should we encourage people to eat half a dozen towering plates of fried food at a buffet? Eating can be an addiction just like smoking, drugs, or alcohol. How much respect do you have for a junkie or alcoholic? Why is an addiction to food any less self destructive?

My sister found out the answer to the last question when she was 20. We buried her last winter.

It would be nice to see a gym that didn't cost an arm and a leg to go to. I am sorry but 30 dollars a month for one person is a bit excessive since all you go and do is put your butt on some machine that someone you don't know and would probably be disgusted by sweat on. Plus if more gyms were cheaper they would make up the money with the amount of people they would attract, they would get alot more members if it were cheaper. I don't need a coffee bar, juice bar or anything else beyond childcare in a gym.

you used the word becoming, as in we are in the process of... redefine, we have become fat and lazy. Solve the problem. For one restaurants can cut the prices and offer 1/2 size servings. Another when a child is obese, or overweight by more than 20 lbs. It should be reported as abuse

It's something that everyone has to do for themselves. People know what habits will make them fat and lazy. You can't make someone get thin if they don't want to.

The best thing we can do is stop putting plus sized people on the runways and magazine pages. Point and laugh at fat people. I can't even remember the last time I was made fun of for being fat, and that's probably why I still am.

America has been too fat and lazy for at least two generations. What do we do? Get rid of all the McDonalds, Popyeyes, Burger Kings, etc. and do as the Germans do. In Germany every one who is capable works in order to get their version of welfare. Even if it's sitting by the road in a wheelchair and waving a flag, everybody works. We've coddled our people much too long.

Becoming? Its already there.. Some one is going to have to outlaw fast food before the problem can be solved..

This crap above me about gyms is ridiculous.. Do you have feet? Then go outside and run.. You don't need a gym to lose weight and you don't need to work out to be at a healthier weight.. You need to stop shoveling cheeseburgers in your mouth..

do away with fast food and go outside! More actual reality and less virtual reality. Free gyms would be a big help. Restrict what can be sold in a food store.

Hold on while I go get a twinkie and some chips. Then I'll come back and sit here the rest of the day answering your questions.
