I have heard conflicting reports on how long the AMA (American medical assoc.) recommends a woman breast feed her newborn. Can some please provide a LINK to a site that shows evidence about what the AMA suggests.

I would like to add that i am neither pregnant nor do I have any children. I am asking a specific question about what the AMA recommends. Some of you need to chill out and just answer the question. It's a purely academic question.

Here, I found this link which states what the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, American Dietetic Association and World Health Organization recommends (which is 12 months):

Do you REALLY care about what a bunch of over-paid doctors, mostly males, who have never met you and your child say about breast feeding? Breast-feed your baby for as long as you and your baby are comfortable doing it, and to heck with their "recommendations."

you can breastfeed your child as long as you and your child are comfortable if your child begins to not take to your breast then he or she is signaling to you that he or she is not comfortable with breastfeeding any longer it is genuinely up to you and your child.
