How do I know if my computer is capable of using a VGA cable to hook up to my television ?

you cant connect a tv through vga its for pc monitor only you need s video or composite video output in your pc.

Hi. VGA is a monitor spec and does not support TV. Your video card can be upgraded to include S-video, as a previous answer suggested. Not very expensive.

Read the Dell User Manual. If it has a "TV out" connector, follow the instructions. VGA won't work.

ordoes it have an s-video port?
