Yes; unfortuantely, their customer service people are mostly in India, and I have found that those techs tend to be very by-the-book, and dependent on their databases rather than on their own knowlege of the products. If the problem falls outside the parameters of what's on their screen, they're pretty much lost.
Thankfully, I do technical support for another company, and so I'm able to deal with my own problems as a rule; if I had to really DEPEND on Dell for tech support, I'd have pitched the machine in the trash long ago!

i have had 2 dells. the first became an xps T600 it extremely is now about 4 years previous. i have had to reformat and reinstall each and every thing two times, notwithstanding it keeps on going. at the same time as i purchased that, Dell help became exceedingly strong. a touch over a 12 months in the past i purchased my 2d Dell ( a length 3000) and characteristic regretted it on the grounds that. i have had to reformat and reinstall two times, replaced the difficult force and DVD burner. Dell help had a 'so what do assume us to do' approach. My next purchase is a MAC.

Yes, it wasn't very good. The wait times for technical support were almost always 30-40 minutes, and it took over 20 calls (and more than a month) to resolve one problem with a defective screen...

One of the easier to use tech support lines. They have started moving a fair amount of support back to the U.S. from India, so pretty likely you will get someone speaking english if you call during the day.

I am trying to purchase a replacement battery for Inspiron 1750. The one listed has a side sticking out. Mine does not have this sticking out. India told me it hangs off the side of the computer. I do not want this and now I am beside myself wondering where to go for help!
