Hello. I understand what you are going through as I just went through it myself almost the entire year last year. It began oddly enough exactly as you described ... I had always had normal (med flow) periods, pretty regular and then one day I missed it. I took a few pregnancy tests and all came out negative. A week or so later I began to bleed very heavy and bled for about 10 days, maybe 12?

The next month I bled very heady for about 20 days. It was then I went to the doctor. They tested my hormone levels and I was low on estrogen.

They sent me in for another test, which took me about a week to setup. After that test was complete, about 3 days later I went back to the doctor and by mistake a medical aid gave me a prescription for testosterone instead of estrogen so the next month my period lasted over a month. By the time I got into the doctor she immediately put me in the hospital to stop the bleeding.

They flush my body with estrogen over a 24 hour period and the bleeding stopped.

I have been on estrogen for about 4 months now and I have normal periods again and everything is as it was.

Long story short, go make sure you aren't to high or to low in estrogen or testosterone.

Well, I'm not an expert in this, but my friend just had a miscarriage, and it was very early on in her pregnancy. She is still testing positive though, since the hormones are still there. I would think that if you tested negative, you are not miscarrying, just having a heavy period. But call your doctor to be sure!

When I was pregnant with my 3rd son I had 3 false negative home tests. The way you are explaing it, it could be very possible that you did miscarriage. You were more then likely not very far along. You can also go to your doctor if you are concerned. They usually can't do much but for peace of mind.

If you have miscarried, or even suspect it, go see your doctor. If for some reason you have not passed all the tissue, you will have to have a procedure to remove it. It is possible that you are just having a very heavy period, but better safe then sorry.
