At the first appt you will most likely meet with an RN or a Nurse Practitioner. She will check your urine, order blood work to check your blood type, CBC, and rubella immunity. She will get basic info from you about you and the baby's father. They will use the pregnancy wheel to date your pregnancy and give you a due date. They will probably give you lots of literature to read and a RX for prenatal vitamins.
It is unlikely they will repeat your pap, but you will have to have a pelvic exam and probably std screenings when you see the dr for the first visit. Ask about it tomorrow--they should be able to tell you exactly when you will need to be checked internally--usually 3 or so times during the pregnancy.

When I went in for my first appointment I filled out paperwork such as medical history, the baby's father's medical history, contact information, etc. I went to the lab and they took about 8 viles of blood (its not that bad even though it seems like a lot), then they made me pee in a cup. Then they made me an appointment to come back a few weeks later to actually see a nurse practitioner. All she did was take a look inside real quick. Then used the sonogram machine to see the heartbeat and measure the baby. Remember to write a list of questions you may have for the doctor. Nothing traumatic happens... its all pretty exciting! Good luck and congratulations!

At my doc, the appointment with the nurse is to go over family history, cost and billing information, and they give you a bag that has a pregnancy book, couple rolls of Tums, local hospital info, and other pregnancy related material in it.
Since you just had a PAP, they won't do another until your 6 week postpartum checkup most likely.

Yes you will have a pap again no matter when your last one was. You will also have blood work taken and also a urine sample. Usually a nurse practioner takes the first appt. now. No heartbeat is heard until the 3rd month. So just a routine examine weight, BP, blood and urine. How sweet is that.
Good Luck to you with your new baby.

If it is just to confirm they will probably make you take another urine test and will draw your blood. If you already had a PAP they should not make you get another one, I had just gotten one before I found out I was pregnant and they just used the results of that one. They will do a vaginal exam though probably at your next appointment.

They will go through a fmaily health history, get blood a fe vials be prepared if your queezy about that!, and give you a lot of info. You might not have to have a pap if you seen the same dr. for your preg. or are in the same clinic but if you don't they'll prob. do it all over again. But not at this apt.

They are going to ask background information so they can asses if you need special services, including drug/alcohol and tobacco info. It will take about an hour. They might also ask if you want special tests done to assess risks of birth defects.
You shouldn't need a pap, but you will have another exam to check your uterus when you have you're 1st doctor's appointment
