dont let cost be the issue, its a proven fact that if a couple waits until they are "financially stable" they will never have children.
as long as you have insurance you should be fine, and able to handle it.
good luck.

That depends on alot of things... what drugs u get, if you have vaginal or C-section, how long you have to stay in the hospital.. there are a number of factors... and you will get a seperate bill from diff people.. your obgyn should charge around $2400 for all of your visits, ultrasounds and delivery.. My insurance covers all but $695 of that.. BUT the hospital will send you a seperate bill, as will the anesthesiologist and the pediatritian... it gets up in the thousands... my neice cost $19,000 total before insurance...

Hopefully you have insurance. How much it costs seems to depend a lot on where you live. I had my second baby 4 months ago, and all of the bills totalled $20,000 for a normal pregnancy with a repeat c-section delivery. Even with insurance we spent $4,000 out of pocket.
You should call around to the OB/GYNs in your area to find out their costs, and the hospital to find out their cost. Then remember that lab tests, ultrasounds, anethesiologists, and pediatricians are all separate costs. Then call your insurance company to find out what your plan covers.

Well my uninsured friend was charged $3,000 on just one medical bill...and she didnt carry her baby to full term because her baby was a miscarriage. Diapers and daycare will probably make anyone broke! Use the cloth ones if you can find any...I know you're thinking "yuck" but my mom raised all 3 of her kids during the 80's in cloth diapers. Now my dad works for the company that makes machines that makes diapers so we get free ones to hand out to people.

$2K-$3K is DRASTICALLY under estimating for no insurance.
I expect to pay the "cap" that my insurnace has--- $2500 for the year, and they pay the rest. I've heard averages are $7,000-10,000 between prenatal visits and hopsital delivery. I know i've paid probably $400 out of pocket already in JUST blood tests and ultra sounds, and my insurance is supposed to cover "100% of the allowable amount"....which means I usually pay a $100 of a $600 a bill.
A midwife can be quite a bit cheaper if you dont mind that route.

Depends on the insurance you have but after my last baby was born we had a bill of $750 from the hospital, $600 from the ob/gyn (that last was our fault, we could have paid along and along better), and within a month had about $300 due to the pediatrician.

Well, to simply push the baby out of your wa-wa and have the doctor catch it is $3200 without insurance. Roughly about $40,000 in all. If you choose to have an at home birth then it is usually around $3000 if you don't have insurance-that's total. Dr visits and pushing. It really depends on where you live, the doc and your hospital or birthing center etc.

Depending on what type of insurance you have it could cost you well into the thousands of dollars.. I have a friend that has insurance but they did not cover pregnancy.. Her son is almost a year and she still has close to 4,000 left to pay.. I believe is what she said...

The average cost is around 10,000 dollars just for the hospital... and that is considerring everything goes exactly as it should. Your OB will charge you seperately, your anesthesiologist will send you a bill (bout 4000) and if you happen to need a c section, you can triple everything.
