This question is mostly for men, though i suppose women can weigh in as well. I know and meet an awful lot of men who say that if they ever caught their wife or girlfriend with another man, he would be dead meat. In many circumstances, the other man may not know he is the other man, or if he does, he doesn't know the husband or boyfriend so why feel any personal responsibility? I have never understood the mentality of taking it oout on the other man. I think that if you catch your wife or girlfriend cheating, it is all on her!!! She deceived you, cheated on you, betrayed you.... The other man, as long as he is not a friend of yours, did nothing to hurt you.

I agree, same when its the other way around. You see all these people with misplaced anger. If my husband ever cheated on me, It would be him that was in the hottest water he had ever been in, in his life. The only way I would go after the other person was if it were a friend or family member. other than that I agree the fault lies with the cheater!!!!

Entirely Dependant on Circumstances......
For some, it's as Black and White as being the girl's fault; and I suppose that may hold true... as it IS her responsibility as part of an exclusive monogamous relationship to uphold those qualities as her part of the mutual exchange of fidelity.

Perhaps, things could be made a touch more real if each person were to consent to, and sign a notarized agreement, which would also bear some real consequences should the terms be breached and/or violated...

But that's just my $0.02.....

I'm with you! Always have been. Don't see why anyone would blame the other person unless that person was a family member or close friends of the wife/husband that was being cheated on.
The "cheater" makes the choice to cheat be p*ssed at them!

I agree with you definitely, that is if the other guy in fact had no idea. There have been situations where a woman will cheat just to get caught, either to end or excite her own relationship, leaving the cheatee unknowingly to deal with her significant other. But the "old-fashioned" reason was, beat him to hell because you don't hit your girl. But don't pitty the other guy to much, because at some point it must have been obvious that there was someone else, and he just chose not to find out until it was to late.

I know alot of women who are the same way, when their significant other cheats they have a cat fight w/ the other woman I think it is an ego thing..the mind set of she/he took what is mine. Some people put their significant others on pedestals so to speak and don't believe they could do anything wrong so it must be the other person's fault...its the fight or flight response to fight for what is yours. it is a very primitive human reaction.

I feel the same as you if a husband or wife is caught cheating, the individual that they are caught with should not be beaten up, the one who did the cheating should buy that a$$ whopping.

I've been trying to get my wife to hook up with someone for ages. I sure wouldn't beat him up.

I'm polyamorous, so anything my wife does like that, where she enjoys it is a good thing. I wouldn't have a hard time with her having a platonic friend, why should I worry about her having an intimate one. She has to follow our rules about safe sex and testing, but she's responsible - I trust that she would.

hmmmmmm

yeah probably

if she decided to cheat and had good reason to do that, then her issue mostly, and no problem I figure

if he is a bad guy, and tricked her or decieved her, then yeah, he did something to hurt me too, stealing my woman, etc......

I would want some facts first. Then I would kick his butt. The punishment would be in line with the crime.

Maybe just give him a lifetime of guilt, or maybe a black eye, or maybe an axe to his head.

it is rediculous to "beat up the other man".... i mean really, it's not HIS fault the wife cheats.. it's HERS.

if a person's marriage has such problems that one or the other feels the need to cheat, i guess the husband and wife need to take a GOOD LOOK at THEMSELVES.

It's no one's fault but theirs.

I'd like to add -- no one can interfere with or break up a good marriage or relationship.

take care.
