I have an auto '91 Integra LS with about 265K miles on it and it still runs well. However, I have a problem with the brakes. Everytime I stop at a light or whenever I stop anywhere and I keep my foot on the brake for about 20-30 seconds, the brakes start fading away and the car starts moving forward!! I almost got into a fender bender once because of this, but whenever I stop I have to shift the car into neutral.

Anyone know what could be causing this? Please, don't say "go buy new brakes", I do plan on doing that, but I want to know what the problem exactly is. Thanks.

first thing to do is check the brake fluid level. refill it if needed . then check and re check it often everday if not more. if you see the level is going down then take the car in for repair.
other then that you could take it too a place that offers a free brake inspection.

It seems you could have air in the line (if youve had recent work done... but if you have good stopping pressure to start, that seems unlikely. You could have a leak in the brake line... is your resevior full? Or most likely of all, you have a vaccuum leak somewhere near the brake booster (the big round thing on the firewall on the drivers side)

Nope.
Nope.
Nope.
and nope.

To the answers above.

The pluger seal in your master cylinder are worn out, and the brake fluid is seeping past it.

If it was your "booster" your pedal would be hard to push.
If it was a vacuum leak, your car would idle bad.
If it was a brake line leak, you would have run out of brake fluid by now and the pedal would go to the floor as soon as you pushed on it.

You need a new master cylinder.

I would start by checking your fluid level sounds like you are losing fluid or you have air in your system If you are losing fluid you need to find the leak if no leak I would try bleeding the system or look for a vacuum leak
