Usually, one goes to a table of Ka1 and sees which acid has the largest value. Apparently, phosphoric acid wins. The power of the acid seems related to the ability of the oxyacid ion to stabilize a negative charge. With this ion, the negative charge on the oxygen from which H+ has ionized is compensated by the electropositive H on the other oxygens.
