I have an imported US laptop. My keyboard when set on UK settings has no backslash as in xx\xxxx. Or if it has, I can't find it. This is very frustrating, since certain accounts require this as part of the log on code. I have to cut and paste from a Word file. Does anyone know of a way I can program a key to support the backslash? Or some other solution?

The keyboard layout of European keyboard is different than US, go to a store and take look at the showcase systems' keyboard, take a picture, or better yet fiddle around the Localization, Keyboard and Mouse, Accessibility settings within Windows Control Panel. The settings there are undoable so you can just fiddle around them to your liking.

Goodness me, get a new keyboard. You can get one for under £10 nowadays. The time you put in copying and pasting is not worth the saving!
