It's one of those common wives tale. When I first got pregnant my baby boy's heart beat was 160+, but after a certain time it went down to 140+. The tale says Girl's h/b's are higher than boys. Boys tend to have their heartbeats in the 140's-150's while the girls are High 155's+.

At the beginning of my pregnancy, his heartbeat was very high, but as my tummy got bigger it started decreasing. I found out it was a boy when I was 5 months pregnant. Even ultrasounds can go wrong, so be careful. I didn't buy him many clothes until after I gave birth.

But, yes. This is a wives tale - you shouldn't really go by this. It was right for me though.

BTW - I had 3 sonograms and in every single one they told me it was a boy. It might also help if you get one of those 3-D 4-D sonograms at one of those sonogram places. Go to envisionultrasound.com if you live in the NY/NJ area, or go to google.com and type 3-D 4-D sonograms for your area! Good Luck!!!!

That's an old wives tale. A baby's heart rate is what it is and not based on gender! the only way to tell your babies gender that is 100% foolproof before they are born is an amnio. They can look on ultrasound be sometimes they are not right!
Good luck

This is an old wives tail, if below 140 beats per minute supposed to be a boy and if over then a girl but other factors affect the heartbeat like whether the baby is asleep or not.

Girls tend to have a slightly higher heartrate than boys..but that's not 100%, they say over 150 bpm is a girl and under for a boy.
My first baby was a boy..heartrate 146.
Pregnant with #2, heartrate fluctuates from 133-142..I'm thinking another boy just because of that reason. I actually have myself convinced completely that there's another boy in there, but only time will tell. :)
Some girls have had lower heartrates..and some boys have been really really high. Not a fool proof method of telling.

What's your baby's heartrate?

It's a wives tale. The heart rate usually slows the further into pregnancy.....

I know someone who was told what gender her kids were based off heart rate and it was wrong all 3 times.

Boys do tend to have a faster heart rate... but there is really no way to tell the gender of the baby. Even Ultrasounds are unreilable. I think the "mother's instinct" is a better predictor.

My midwife buys into it a bit. I don't think it's always accurate, but often if it's a girl the heart rate is higher. It's more of a trend that happens than actual science.

the parable is that if the middle fee is one hundred forty+ it truly is a woman. If the middle fee is under one hundred forty, then a boy. At my first ultrasound, i replaced into 7 weeks & 3 days and my toddler's coronary heart fee replaced into 149. We found out later we are having a woman lol her coronary heart fee is commonly around 150 or so. sturdy luck & congrats !! (:

No, this is a wives tale the only definite way to tell the gender of a baby in utero is via amniocentesis or wait until it is born.

A 3D/4D ultrasound may be pretty accurate as well.
