I live in Missouri and this is my secret.
I use Miracle grow or Peters Plant food. I mix in in a gallon milk jug and then poke a small hole in the bottom and stuff some cotton string (like a tail) and sit it by the hill to get to the roots slowly about once a week. Mine grow so big and are so sweet all of my neighbors want them.........the kids in the neighborhood like to steal them. That's okay though!
I only let 1 melon per vine grow and I turn them every day and NEVER had a malformed melon or yellow spot.
Ummmmmmmmm! I do love those melons!

I merely harvested my first watermelon of the season. it really is a black diamond and it really is wide. the merely difficulty I did for it became water it weekly. it really is not any longer even growing to be in tremendous soil because it has a lot of gravel in it. The vines are wide besides. I planted a watermelon in my strong soil and it did no longer some thing, yet this vine has exceeded my expectancies. So, i don't comprehend if there's a large difference between watermelon kinds, notwithstanding the black diamond would not look to require some thing particular. only a lot of solar and weekly watering. do not water the fruit nonetheless. merely water the position it really is in the floor. also, i prefer to apply the plastic mesh plant crates you will get on the backyard centers to keep the melon off the floor.
