The delegation arrived at the market, which is called Shorja, on Sunday with more than 100 soldiers in armored Humvees — the equivalent of an entire company — and attack helicopters circled overhead, a senior American military official in Baghdad said. The soldiers redirected traffic from the area and restricted access to the Americans, witnesses said, and sharpshooters were posted on the roofs. The congressmen wore bulletproof vests throughout their hourlong visit.

“They paralyzed the market when they came,” Mr. Faiyad said during an interview in his shop on Monday. “This was only for the American media.”

Do you think McCain has finally gone SENILE or is he just
brown nosing the Republicans to be like Bush?

McCain should be ashamed of himself to publicly say that Iraq is much safer while protected by a cordon of troops . Under a security blanket that no Iraqi merchant receives and then saying the said market is safe shows him to be a hypocrite. This isn't senility it is another example of "spin" that the present administration has become famous for. After proclaiming himself as a breath of fresh air and a maverick he is just becoming another political whore for the Conservative junta.

Yes and I think it is safe to move back to New Orleans and that the Orange threat level means something. I also believe that Ohio and Michigan are not in a downward economic spiral.

I also believe that John McCain should have called George Bush on what he and Rove did to him in 2000 and he would have won that election. Why he thinks putting his white nose up their *** holes will help is beyond me.

Poor John McCain. He's tried so hard to be everything to everybody that he's ending up being nobody to anybody. He's a good man deep down, I really believe that. But what you described in your question has made him look very foolish. He's losing ground every day in the campaign race, and I think he needs to bow out with his dignity intact.

McCain is an idiot. He flipflops all the time and I think he's brownosing and he's going senile. DO NOT ELECT THIS MAN. That is if you want to get out of Iraq by 2012 because we won't. He's a psychopath.

I believe John McCain to be one of the finest representatives the republican party has.
His lack of reality is in complete sync with most of the right wing as they strain and grasp while watching their lock on power slip away.

All should remember this is a fascinating time in history. Never has a political party had so much - done so little - and then lost it all in such a short time frame.

Compared to when? What part of Iraq? Baghdad is clearly not as safe as it was when Saddam was in power. Saddam maintained order through torture and fear. The northern Kurdish area of Iraq is clearly safer now than under Saddam, you don't have to worry about the Iraqi army coming in using chemical weapons and destroying your towns for no reason. Most of Iraq may be safer now than it was four or six months ago.

Actually McCain has relatives there.

And if you were to ask the troops, they would tell you.

Try it sometime instead of listening to the media.
