LOL. love this question b/c its just like someone writing your paper for you.

I am going to tell you something that obviously no one here realizes about the American civil war. I know this b/c I have my degree in history and have studied the American civil war for years. It had no a thing to do with slavery. Everyone wants to make it sound like it did, but no. As a matter of fact, Lincoln said that he would gladly let the keep all their slaves if they just came back to the union. So freeing the slaves had nothing to do with the war. However it did begin in 1861 and end in 1865. The northern states (union) and southern states (confederate) were the two who were involved. The Union won the war. The goals of the union were to bring their country back together. The goals of the confederacy was to maintain their own self, and not to allow the northern states to push them around. They wanted to continue moving further west and expanding, however the north wanted to continue conserving. Well, as soon as Lincoln was elected president, the south was out. Hope this helps, and seriously do not become strayed by others answers, go ahead and look it up yourself also.

So, what is this, you just gave every bit of what you needed in a term paper in one question?

I can deal with specifics, or hard to find stuff, being asked on here. But use history books, google searches and wikipedia to learn the basics.

First you must specify WHICH Civil War. Every country has had at least one and while the majority of us are Americans, not all of us are and we can't just assume you are.

One of the reasons we can't assume you are American is you show no knowledge of it at all. You should at least know who won.
