Without the writing for that show, it never would have lasted as long as it has. They dare to break the rules in regards to the story line, are extremely creative, and are FUNNY! I was hoping to buy a boxed set of the entire set of shows, but this is one show that could theoretically go on forever, so I'll just enjoy the syndicated reruns (I'm cheap! - LOL!).

1. It is a show for both adults and children. Simplistic enough for kids and sophisticated enough for adults with hidden, subtle satire.
2.The characters are like plenty of people we all know.
3. It always, always delivers in the laughs department. There is not one show i don't have a really good belly laugh. It helps you feel better after a hard day. Laughter guaranteed!

The writing is first class, and stands up well to multiple viewings.
There are many fascinating smaller characters -- who would have guessed that Snake was once a college professor?
The Forrest Gump-like quality of Homer.

It's funny.
The writing is still good, even though they had some pretty lame episodes.
Some of the characters are VERY likable.
