You have been blessed by the good will of another which is rare this day in age for the exact reason you are asking this question. Because alot of the time when people are nice they get screwed. Please do not screw these people. Pay the rent when he passes. If he is not sick it could be some time still before he passes. My grandmother lived to 94. You just never know.
You are truely lucky to have this help in your life. I hope you pay it forward to another needy soul one day.

Since you're not paying rent; you need to start saving some money, because you have no way of knowing what his wife will do with the property once he's gone. If his plan was to give you the house, he would have done so from the start. He told you that he used CDs that were for his wife to buy the property, so you're already living off of her money. Be thankful that the man is letting you live rent free and next time, keep your sister out of your business.

Your sister is completely and utterly WRONG!!
You should have been paying rent for 3 years but if he is not willing to allow you to pay now then that is his choice.
If you want to stay in the house after he is gone either pay rent or offer to buy it from the widow.
Give me a break just because you have lived there rent free for three years does not entitle you to anything but a feeling of shame that you have been living off of this generous man. You should have been able to get a job and be a contributing member of society by now so start doing it!!
Respect yourself enough to know that no one owes you anything and we all need to pay our way in life.

Golly. A kept woman that has ethics and some moral sense. Congrats. I think you are correct. The deal you have is you live free, he gets to come by now and then. I won't bother commenting on what this relationship is. Apparently, your sister thinks you should somehow convince him, (perhaps by blackmail?) to give you the house. You should thank your sister. She apparently feels that you are living as a whore, so you should insist on being a well paid whore. You say you've been there 3 years, so at even $500 per month, you've been paid $18,000. You should stick by the deal you've accepted.

How dare you (or your sister)!
First of all he is doing you a favor by letting you live there for free and now you want the house for free?
He told you what to do! Start paying the rent when he dies. End of story.
If you don't like it buy your own damn house!

Why should he give you the house? he is doing you a good deed by letting you live there rent free, and now you expect him to give you the house for free? Maybe you should get a mortgage and buy the house from him

You can't MAKE him do anything. The house is in his name and you are merely "renting" it. You have no right to it nor can you ever have any right to it. Unless it's in writing and on paper, you're screwed and unless you have a written lease, if he dies and the wife finds out you've been living there rent free, she can have you evicted faster than you can bat your free-loading eyelashes.

Unfortunately, dear, you don't have a legal leg to stand on. When this man passes away, there will be a summary made of all his assets, including properties. If you want to be able to stay in your home, you are going to need a lease, or you will most likely wind up being tossed out on your ear.

You are living how everyone would like to live for free as of right now...he is using money that should go to her just so you can live how you are. You owe it to her to make the rent after he passes.
