That a new thing in horror/slasher movies is to establish early on that their cell phones have no signal, no battery or are broken?

These kids today have such short attention spans that ALL movies repeat the same crap over and over again.

Progress, progress, progress...
In the days before cellphones, you could always rely on any or all of the following:

The storm has knocked out the power.

The phone lines have been cut.

The phones are dead.

"That's funny...I can't get a dial tone on this thing..."

Some things never change, only the technology.

Cell phones are the worst thing to happen to horror movies in decades. It has become harder and harder to isolate characters (i.e. victims) because our world is so connected.

of course, because now days who doesnt have a cell phone? and they cant have a movie when as soon as something jumps out to get you she calls the brigade in. that would be a short movie...unless...she calls them in but they cant help her because the "thing" is getting them too. buwahahaha ha haaaa!

duh!!! they have to add drama that the victims can't call the police. otherwise there wouldn't be a movie line that the main character over comes and beats the bad guy.
