Crawling is one of those milestones that are reached in many different ways and isn't generally listed on milestone charts. Some babies never do a traditional crawl on their hands and knees. Instead, they opt to roll over to where they want to go or scoot on their bottoms, or crawl "commando-style" pulling themselves along on their tummies. If your baby is going to crawl, between 7-10 months is fairly average. However, some crawl earlier and some crawl later. Babies are quite inventive when it comes to getting themselves from one place to another. If he spends a lot of time on the floor, make sure he gets ample tummy time. He'll dislike it at first, but it will help him build the muscles and coordination he needs to figure out how to get from place to place. I have been a mom for 27 years to 4 kids who are now 27, 25, 22, and 9. My 9 year old didn't crawl until she was over 1 year old, she scooted around on her bottom before than starting about 11 months. She was late developing movement skills (too many big brothers and sisters and their friends carrying her!) and didn't walk until 14 months. I have also been a child care provider for 20 years. I have a little boy right now who turned 1 on March 3. He has only been crawling for about 3 weeks. He gets around with one leg bent on his knee in traditional crawling style and the other leg he holds straight out and pushes with his toes. Hard to say when your little guy will start crawling, but he will figure out how to get moving when he is ready.

I've been asking myself the same question about my daughter. She started sitting at four months and is now eight months and just starting to crawl. I've heard that 7-9 months is typical and that babies who are older generally just start walking and kind of skip the crawling. My friends baby started rolling at six months, then sitting and by seven months was crawling and picking herself up to standing.
A good sign is when he wants to be on his stomach all of the time. My daughter, in the last month or so, always goes on her stomach. It started with alot of frustration, she would stretch and reach for stuff and then become very upset. Just recently she fitgured out that when she moves certain ways she can get toys behind her and on the side. She moves backwards when trying to go forward which I have also heard is common before they start to really crawl. Some babies first learn that they can roll to get places. They are such smart little buggers!

No certain age. My 11mo. old is still not crawling. He's quite chubby so it must be hard for him to stay on his knees. He just rolls wherever he wants to go. I don't think he even will crawl. He'll probably just roll until he's strong enough to walk. And it looks like he's gonna be a late bloomer on the walking as well. But I'm not worried, I'm pretty sure it's due to his weight (28lbs) and his marshmallow-like legs, lol) For some babies, it may be a physical hinderace, like being heavy, but not for all. Some just simply don't feel secure, or brave enough to venture into something new. Don't push him. You'll know when he's ready.

Hard to say, they crawl when they are ready. My daughter is almost 8 months she's not quite crawling. But she can stand holding onto something.

it depends some babies start soon and some later.when you put him on the floor on his tummy does he move his legs ? or does he move his whole body like he's swimming? if he does any of this he'll crawl soon my son started crawling on his 6 month all i can tell you he'll start soon just be patient and put him more on the floor laying on his tummy to stretch and build his leg muscles and one other thing make sure you shop for the crawling toys i don't remember the name of the toy but if you go to a toy shop they have a bunch of them you can choose from they really help.
