Eat a banana. They're ideal for heartburn because the potassium neutralizes the acidic levels in your esophagus.
Oh yeah, and your child's hair is not determined by your level of heartburn.

Well in my experience heartburn does not equal hair.. I had it so bad I was always eating tums... When my daughter was born yes she had a small amount of hair, but no more then my neices had when they was born and neither of my sister ever got heartburn... I read in a book that due to your insides being moved around the stomach acids have a higher chance of coming back up which causes the heartburn.. I dont know if that is really what happens or not, but to me it kindof makes sinse... Sleep slightly elevated, and have tums or rollaids on hand.. Best of Luck.. Maybe your little bundle will have hair.. You never can tell untill they are born....

You get heartburn when you are pregnant because the hormones cause the sphincter in the oesophagus to relax and this means that stomach acid can enter the oesophagus, causing heartburn.
It has nothing to do with the amount of hair your baby has!How could it? How would that even work? Do people think the hair gets digested somehow??
It's an old wives tale!

I've heard that too, and since I'm almost 22 weeks with heartburn every single day, I was starting to wonder.
But, it is just another old wives tale. Yes, your baby could have lots of hair, or your baby could be bald. It isn't a reliable way to determine if the baby will have lots of hair or not.
It's just one of those fun pregnancy symptoms. Try not laying down for a while after eating. Try and sit up or stand up for a few hours after you eat. Also, avoid spicy and greasy foods, which I'm sure you know. Other than that, TUMS are my best friends.
Good luck with your pregnancy!

Well I had NO heartburn when pregnant with my son (hes 5 now) and he came out with a TON of hair, so I think it's just an old wives tale... also, my mom said no heartburn with me and I had hair... luck of the draw, I think!

I don't know about your baby having hair when you have heartburn, but I can say that the pregnancy heartburn is the worst! I always found that a little baking soda in water helped to calm the fires! Good luck!

When i was pregnant with my daughter anything that i ate that was even just a little bit spicy would give me the worse heartburn in the world, and sure enough my daughter came out with so much hair! But it could also be genetic, my whole family was born with a full head of hair! so i am not sure!

I had heartburn extremely bad also. With all my pregnancies. So much so..I would sleep with tums on the sides of my mouth. I feel for ya! I had 6 boys with so much hair (dark black) when they were born they looked like little monkeys. The one girl I had came out bald. So I can't say it would be a tale or not. Maybe it's a boy thing. Good luck!

Mine all had the same amount of hair. 2 were breech and 2 were normal deliveries. The breech pregnancies were far worse for heartburn, possibly as the head was pushing up instead of down. I couldn't hack gaviscon as it was like drinking snot! I used to take a glass of milk to bed with me at night and sip it whenever I felt discomfort. That was great for the heartburn.

I suffered really badly with heartburn whilst preganant (about 19 weeks) I was advised to buy caffeine free coke, pour into a glass and let it go flat then drink it. It did work for me.
As for my son (now 7) he had quite fine hair which thickened alot by 6 months. he still has thick hair now.
Good luck!
