To me, "child like" assumes a certain naivete that exists in one who might be considered matured beyond the "child" stage of development. This person might be found "charming" or "delightful".

"Childish" to me, means one who is a mature person with assumed adult experiences who behaves in a selfish way with petulance and tantrums or other behavior more excusable in a young child. This person may be found obnoxious and annoying.
