You can remove the startup prompt. Right click My Computer -> Goto Properties -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery -> Settings. Uncheck "Time to display list of operating systems".

In XP, Start > Run and type msconfig, edit the Boot.ini file and remove the Vista entry.

If that is too complicated, use your Recovery CD to re-install XP.

Remember to back up all your personal data first.

Right Click My Computer, click on Properties, Advanced, Start up and Recovery.
Make sure that you have WinXP selected as default operating system then uncheck display list of operating systems.
