I read before going to sleep. I have many favorite books, my favorite ones being books by Laurie Halse Anderson and Ann Brashares. I also like Ghost Host by Marilyn Singer, but those are just my recent favorites. I need some good reccommendations for young adult books. I am 12 yrs. old, going on 13. So, tell me your reccommendations. Got all that?

I don't like horror stories much. Also, I know many people enjoy them, but I HATE the Harry Potter series. I'm sorry, but I can't stand it. I also don't care for Sci-Fi novels. Another favorite author of mine is Carolyn Mackler. I also like the Gossip Girl novels and the It Girl novels. I have read and love Judy Blume and Jerry Spinelli. As I mentioned, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is the best(by Ann Brashares)!! I just finished the last book in that series and I loved it. I still need some good reccommendations for my age. C'mon people. LoL. Also, I have read and liked The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. I have read Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls as well. I need something different.

Well, these are kind of old school suggestions, but you might try looking at the books written by Louisa May Alcott (Little, Women; Little Men; etc.); Charlotte Bronte (Jane Eyre); Anne Frank, The Story of a Young Girl; Call of the Wild; Anne of Green Gables/Anne of Avonlea series. There are so many classic books still out there that seldom get attention any more, yet have so much to offer. You might also try looking into biographies of historic figures. They can be fascinating, as well as educational, opening up entire new vistas to you. At least consider some of them.

My fav books are anything by JD Robb. But I think you should be a bit older before reading them cuz there is some cursing, mild violence, and sex. They are futuristic murder mystery/romance all in one.
The Harry Potter books are also another fav. I could read them over and over. I own all of them so far and my daughter is six and learning to read now. Soon as she builds her words up I'm gonna start letting her read a few pages a night of them.
Try the R L Stine "Fear Street" books. I read every single one of them when I was your age. Well, I always had a soft spot for ghost stories.

You should read "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card. It's an amazing book for young adults, about kids training to protect the earth from an alien invasion. I know you didn't list any science fiction authors among your favorites, but "Ender's Game" is a book everyone should read. I've heard they're making a movie of it as well, and I'll bet it will be very popular.

Don't you just love people who ask you what you read and what recommendations you have for them to read and then when you recommend something to them--get really, really picky! When I was a kid--i would read anything and everything. And because I wasn't picky I found that I loved mysteries, sci-fi, westerns, adventures, horror stories, history novelas, just about anything with a plot! I would have never tried them if the adults in my life had not had various tastes and I was stuck without my own books. So--try new things--it is what life is all about!

Im 13 and my overall favorite books are The Mediator series by Meg Cabot. There are six really great books in the series. They are about a girl who can see, talk to, and even touch ghosts. They are the best! Also the book Avalon High by Meg Cabot is good too.
