A few minutes after posting the question, I am fascinated that the replies are about 50% like him, 50% hate him. But the voting buttons are a different story. The thumbs-up voters are strongly favoring the "like him" replies. This is strange and I don't have any explanation for it.

The problem is that most history books glamorize our president's regardless of their ineptitude.

For example, most history books gloss over the fact that Abraham Lincoln was a racist who wanted to deport blacks out of the country, or that he suspended the Constitution and the Bill of Rights in the Northern states during the War for Secession.

History books gloss over the fact that Woodrow Wilson and Winston Churchill conspired to let Americans be killed on beligerant ships carrying war materiel to give the US and excuse to go to war.

They gloss over the fact the Roosevelt provoked the attack on Pearl Harbor so that he could pretend the Japanese got us into WW2.

So history books will probably tell what a great little war lord Dubya was, just like his dear old daddy.

I doubt history books will have George Dubya Bush in them because that is not a real person.

George W. Bush did a bunch of good things. Several above have already said some of those things.

Well, since this is the present, then there's no way it can be history yet. Come back and ask this question in 20 or 30 years when it is truly history and you will be able to get a legitimate answer.

He saved the USA after Clinton cooked the economic books and allowed us to be attacked without effectively defending the USA. That he stopped a ression and started an economic boom that lasted 7 years and one were still in he helped the middle class.

Things like that,

they will also note the insanity of the far left calling Bush a Draft dodger when he did serve.

You'll get a lot of smart a** answers. The real answer is we don't know. It depends on the outcome of Iraq. He still has a couple years. I don't thing he's done a poor job, but he certainly hasn't done a great job. Time will tell.

Depends on who wins the next election. It may not matter.
History is written by the winners. Besides what makes you think that he ever plans to step down? It can't be anything that he has done in the past. I see another term in our future although I can't wait to see what little trick he comes up to justify this one. He's wiped his butt with our Consitution as it is.

Read "Atlas Shrugged" if you want to see what our government is turning into.
